How many of us sit and wait for things to change? How many of us wish for something more, or something better, but then do nothing to change ourselves? The world isn’t going to magically change for us. If we want our world to change, we must first change ourself.

Nothing will change unless you change

Are you currently becoming the person who you need to be in order to achieve your goals? Are you becoming the person who’s capable of pushing past the challenges, pushing through the difficult times, and coming out the other side whatever it takes?

Ask yourself whether the person who you need to become to achieve your goals, would do what you’re currently doing right now. Because if they wouldn’t, then you MUST change your actions right now. If you don’t, nothing around you will ever change.

I’m going through a period of change at the moment.

Last month I decided that I’m going to get rid of my flat because I’m going to be abroad most the time over the next 9 months. It’s not suitable for AirBnBing out, so there’s really no point in me having it. I’m moving out tomorrow.

It was scary to let go of it and actually become technically homeless, but it means that I’m now totally free to go and explore the world while running my company from my laptop with nothing to consider back in the UK.

Letting go means that I can now transition into a new chapter of my life without any kind of mental burden. Then from there, I’m able to grow and move forwards rather than clinging to what’s behind me. I like to think of this kind of transition as going through the “eye of the needle”.

Change is good

Change enables us to step out of our comfort zones, and learn lessons that we’d never learn if we stayed stuck in place.

There’s no such thing as “good” or “bad”. Good and bad are nothing more than our perspective on an event. It’s us that choose to give it the label of good or bad. Have you ever noticed that our biggest strengths and assets come from the worst times in our lives? Challenging times shape us, and force us to grow into something more. When things are easy, we don’t grow.

So we might think those tough times are “bad”, but since the best parts of us always come from those tough times… Are they really bad? I’m grateful for every “bad” time I’ve had in my life, because that’s made me into who I really am.

So remember this if you’re going through a bad time right now, because it’s shaping you into a better person as we speak. And one day in the future, you’ll have the choice to look back on this moment and be grateful for what it will have given you.

By the way, this video inspired me to write this post. Check it out:
